and go beyond.

Learn and experience in the
village of Shinobi-no-Sato.

NEWS

Greetings

Hello, everyone. My name is Gen'ichi Mitsuhashi, the owner of Ubusuna.I have been living here in Ishikawa, Iga in Japan since 2018.The word ubusuna (産土) means "birthplace" (ubu + suna), which includes that of local deities, shrines, and ancestral lands. The Anaishi Shrine of Ishikawa has a history of nearly 1,200 years, and the community that supports it has similarly sustained itself through its long history to the present day. With Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) attractingattention, farming and mountain villages with a long history have become proof of "sustainable communities".
---Trial Trips

Learn at Shinobi-no-Sato

忍びの里で学ぶ
Ishikawa is said to be the birthplace of the real-life ninja Ishikawa Goemon, with this area on the border of Iga and Koga being also the "hometown of the shinobi." The ninjutsu used by the shinobi is also known as "integrated living arts" (sōgō seikatsu-jutsu), or "integrated survival arts" (sōgō seizon-jutsu), which is a way of life to survive and live on in times of peace and extreme conditions.
In recent years, it has become difficult to distinguish between everyday life and emergencies with all the earthquakes, torrential rains, typhoons, heatwaves, snowfalls, pandemics, volcanic eruptions, and conflicts. While "Phase Free" refers to a life in which everyday life and emergencies are not differentiated, this may be similar to the life of the shinobi.

Experience Programs

In addition to wood-chopping and Goemon bath experiences, seasonal experiences (rice planting, wheat harvesting, blueberry harvesting, rice harvesting, vegetable harvesting, forest management, etc.) are also available. The owner, who is qualified as a "real ninja guide" and a "master of ninja studies," will also serve as a guide at local historical ninja sites. Seminars on hands-on ninja training and ninjutsu are also available.

For example, the following lessons are available:

Nukiashi/sashiashi
through the mud!
Rice Planting Experience Program

Scheduled for early April
For ages 10 and up
How do you make rice? How did people grow food in the past? Learn about the rice that you eat every day, whose seedlings are hard work to plant by hand in muddy rice paddies. We will teach you the nukiashi and sashiashi ninjutsu (the art of "trackless/stealthy steps") so that you can walk easily in the rice paddies!
After the experience, visitors can enjoy a footbath in the Goemon Bath.We have also received feedback that people have started to eat rice without leaving any leftovers.
point!
We also offer an annual rice farming program (4 times a year) from planting to harvest. This popular program is open to everyone from adults to children.

Let's make and wear straw sandals!

Scheduled for October
For ages 10 and up
People used to make their own shoes! In the days when there were no vehicles, you'd walk to your destination on straw sandals, and if they broke, you'd fix them and keep wearing them! Through this lesson, you, too, can experience making straw sandals.Have you ever heard of the term "foot education"?
One of the causes of poor posture and body distortion in children as well as adults is the toes. Children who have fewer opportunities to play outside tend to have weaker toe strength, with an increasing number of them having "floating toes" (a condition in which the toes are floating). Straw sandals with thongs can help improve this. You can also improve your health by continuing to wear the straw sandals that you made yourself.

Home Evacuation Ninjutsu Program!

Recently, there are increased chances to suffer from disasters throughout the year (typhoon season and guerrilla downpours in spring and fall, extreme weather in summer, power outage damage due to snowfall in winter, etc.)."What should I do if a disaster struck my family?""What should I do during a power outage at night? Where do I start?"Why not learn from ninjutsu during such times? The shinobi were responsible for "traveling safely at night and returning home alive" in order to obtain information about their enemies. When their family is at home, it is usually in the early morning or late evening before or after school/work.
Assuming that a disaster struck at home at night, they would move safely from their bedrooms to reach the entryway and move to a shelter. By combining ninjutsu walking and mental care with modern home evacuation methods, you can learn about home evacuation in a fun way.Ninjutsu is also known as "integrated living arts." In this experience program, you will practice based on a floor plan of your home so that the content can be applied to your daily life from there on.
point!
Instruction is provided by a 4th dan innin of the Japan Ninja Council.
He is a professional disaster prevention advisor for the Osaka Building Maintenance Association.

Experience Ubusuna
at home

Ishikawa is said to be the birthplace of the real-life ninja Ishikawa Goemon, and the neighborhood is surrounded by areas that produced many ninja masters with many "historical ninja sites" that have become Japanese cultural heritage. However, it is also true that there are many places that "would be expensive to visit on your own" or "you can't go on your own or would not know even if you do go".As someone qualified with the "real ninja guide certificate" and a resident of the area, I can offer you short trips that you can hop in from your own home with VR. In addition, I will upload videos of everyday life in the farming and mountain villages.

Introducing Ubusuna

In addition to my hand-made, pesticide-free rice, we offer a variety of other products, with a wide range of rice products from trial size to regular delivery. We deliver rice that is freshly threshed right before shipment.
